We all breathe. But are we optimizing how we breathe for how we live?
Between work, life, and everything in between, most of us aren’t really paying attention. This post marks the start of an experiment, or journey, where I’m going to start paying attention to and practicing how I’m actually breathing.
I’m not totally new to this. I used to practice yoga regularly and I’m familiar with Ujjayi Pranayama (ocean breath). I remember a yoga teacher once saying that the yoga positions are just a container for our breath. So I get the importance of breathing. It’s just been a while since I’ve been intentional about it.
When it comes to breathwork specifically, I have a lot to learn. From what I’ve read, breathwork offers mental, emotional, and physical benefits by influencing the body’s nervous system. It can reduce stress and anxiety, improve physical health markers, and enhance mental well-being.
So I’m trying something. Five minutes of intentional breathing. Five days a week. Starting with the Haven Breathwork two-week challenge because structure helps.
Here we go.
